FAQs
What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga was founded and developed originally by Imi (Lichtenfeld) Sde-Or. Imi created Krav Maga for military purposes, to improve combat abilities of Israeli IDF soldiers in the early 50's. Over the years, the Krav Maga system was further developed by Imi to provide self-defense solutions for the civilian sector as well. The system leverages natural reflexes and programs your mind and body with easy to master techniques specifically designed to be highly effective regardless of your physical stature and/or strength.
What is the atmosphere like at Common Sense Self-Defense?
Our ultimate goal is to teach you the necessary skills to defend you and your loved ones. We train with intensity, pushing you to do your best, but we also provide a fun, no-ego, environment.
Do I need to be in shape to start Krav maga?
While Krav Maga is definitely a good work-out, the training and exercises are designed to be modifiable. All ages are welcome. Please also speak with our instructors and we will make the necessary accommodations.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable workout clothes and shoes.
We respect the health of our students and others who use the mats where we train. If you would like to train in shoes, please bring a clean, non-marking pair that isn’t worn outside. We clean the mats regularly, but outside contaminants, carried in on our shoes, can result in some unpleasant infections.
We also highly recommend you wear a mouth guard and a groin guard for some exercises.
